Shell Northern Slope & Alaska

Project Challenge

Lean was tasked by Shell to design a shipping container that would be used for shipments to and from wellsites on the Northern Slope and Alaska. These tools would travel via barge and ice road trucks going through some of the toughest terrain as well as some of the most volatile temperature changes. All other suppliers failed to deliver a reliable product as Shell’s tools were damaged upon arrival on 100% of their shipments.

Results
  • Tools arrived on site in perfect condition.
  • Lean containers allowed wellsite workers to safely remove equipment without the use of tools.
  • Reduced the amount of wellsite workers needed to remove tools.
  • Reduced the amount of time to remove tools from over 45 minutes to just under 5 minutes.
  • Reduced footprint by over 50 percent.
  • Captured all waste when tools were placed back into the container.

ExxonMobil Gulf of Mexico

Project Challenge

Tools were being damaged and scraped because of poor packaging and crating. Exxon’s quality managers were looking for the strongest, best designed, and safest crates for their tools. Lean’s crates were tested against competitors from all over the Gulf Coast. Tight delivery schedules also needed to be met.

Results

Lean Energy’s crate dominated competition in every category resulting in Lean being the only crating company used for these tools in the GoM.

Since then, we have been brought in on several occasions to provide specialty designed products and services to help solve problems in our customers’ supply, packaging, crating, prepping, storage, inventory and preventative maintenance areas.

Chevron Mafumeira Sul Project

Project Challenge

Packaging needed for large generators, equipment and hazardous material being shipped to Angola and Korea which would contain items to be stored for 5 years in a hot, high saline environment. During this time, no rust or damage could occur to the equipment. All of Chevron’s specifications regarding packaging, inventory labeling, long term storage and safety must be followed.

Results

Lean safely delivered and completed the job in under fourteen days. All crates passed inspections in the US, Angola and Korea and equipment is still in perfect condition.
